Who: Erin Ranando, CC4C Board Member
What: NYC Half Marathon
When: Sunday, March 20, 2011
Running a half-marathon has been a goal of mine for quite some time so the long runs and sore muscles were worth the effort in order to be able to successfully finish the NYC Half-Marathon. A great run through Central Park, Times Square and down the West Side Highway, the experience in itself was special for me. But what made the race even more special is that I had the honor of running on behalf of the Teenok Heart Foundation.
I was introduced to the Foundation by a co-worker close to the family that founded the organization after losing their newborn to congenital heart disease. In return for my spot in the NYC Half-Marathon, I committed to raising $1000 for the Foundation’s cause. To help me reach my fundraising goal, CC4C generously donated $500 to the Foundation.
The Teenok Heart Foundation offers an extra “breath of life” to existing hospital and research programs in pediatric cardiology. Donations to the Foundation support on-going clinical research in infant heart disease, provide supplemental funding for equipment and personnel on pediatric cardiac units, and offer financial and/or social service support to patients and their families.
